Head of the Louvre Museum workshop in 1975 then art restorer for the Museums of France at the Palace of Versailles from 1976 to 1984, Gilles Perrault left the administration as Deputy Director of the Versailles Palace’s Restoration Workshop to create the first private business in France, comprising a team of restorers and scientists in a laboratory and a consulting firm providing expert opinions.
After 30 years working for the State, professionals and private individuals, Gilles Perrault, expert in works of art, accredited by the Court of Cassation, has also carried out examinations of more than:
1,800 painted or graphic works (including Brueghel, Titien, Rubens, Dughet, Monet, Sisley, Bazille, Renoir, Picasso, Kandinsky, Léger, Matisse, Appel, Pollock, Lam …)
3,000 sculptures in wood, bronze, earthenware, plaster … (including 580 Rodin, 55 Claudel, 355 A. and D. Giacometti, 240 Barye, Brancusi, Degas, Renoir, Bugatti …),
and French furniture from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, generating an internationally recognised database and expertise.
